SATURDAY EVENING POST Scrapbook Part 22

Above: Orlando Busino draws a great time-saving solution -- perfect for me since I hate painting! It must work just great. I mean, look at that guy's big smile!

Continuing a look at SATURDAY EVENING POST gag cartoons from the 1950s (with an occasional COLLIER'S one as well).

W.H. Brown's cartoon is good. I like Reg Hider's (below) a bit better.

And more unclothed men in Lyons' cartoon.

Neal Gabler wrote a column in 2011 ("The End of Cultural Elitism") about how the critics have lost their influence and it's the people who are the new tastemakers.

Jeff Monahan's big smile on our man at the lower right hand side of the composition nails this wordless gag.

My thanks to Kristin Cawood for giving me this large scrapbook of 1950s gag cartoons to share! Thanks, Kristin!
